DIY: Shooting Your Own Content

Small Business Tips

Why You Should Feature In
Your Own Video Content

If you are the Face of Your Brand, You Are The Face In Your Videos

One of the very first questions I get when working with clients is, “do I need to feature in the video?” My answer is always a big resounding YES! You need to be in your videos. It’s your business, you interact with the customers, and you know your business inside out and back to front. No one else will have the passion that you have for your business and no one else truly understands how to speak to your ideal client.

You Should Be In the Video!!!

Video Marketing is the best way to develop trust and credibility with your audience about your small business. It’s your business, you interact with the customers, and you know your business inside out and back to front. No one else will have the passion that you have for your business and no one else truly understands how to speak to your ideal client. And what better way to do so, then by being the face and voice of your company. By standing in front of the camera and presenting your message, you are able to really put personality into what you’re saying. This carries greater engagement – It’s a deeper connection.

Put A Face To The Name

Plus, by performing in your own videos, you are giving yourself a greater chance of being recognised as the industry expert in your niche – and that will draw targeted traffic to your site. This is what you want. You know you can fix your audience’s problems, let’s get other people thinking that too.

Make A Connection With Your Audience

You should be the one running your customers through tutorials or how to educational content. You should be the one checking in with your audience with motivational tips and you want to be the first face they see on your website with a welcome video or brand story.

So, how do you develop the confidence to do this?

What happens if you are feeling far too nervous or are worried about how you look? Look, fear of public speaking is a real thing – and the anxiety can drive you insane. However, knowing you are helping business owners or customers with their problem can help you to overcome feelings of nervousness or anxiety.

Plus, by being prepared with a script or doing Pre-Production before the scheduled filming day, and knowing that you have editing in your back pocket, should give you peace of mind. Now, I’m not saying that it will be easy the first time that you do this – but by thinking about all of the positives of making your video for your target audience – I know you can get through it.

Should I Always Feature In The Video?

As always, there are exceptions to the rule. If you are creating Product Advertisements, you may wish to hire actors and a voice over artist to bring that ad to life. You obviously want to feature your clients in testimonial videos and you definitely don’t have to create an animated version of yourself for Animated Videos, unless you really want to!! For the most part, put a face to the name of your business and get yourself in front of the camera. Trust me, it will pay off!
